Marc Thiercelin has gone 5 times around the globe by himself ( including 4 Vendée Globe), 22 Transatlantiques, 7 Solitaires du Figaro et 5 Tours de France à la voile, adding up an amazing total of 700 000 km on a sailing boat. 2012 promises new challenges with his trimaran « Ultime » which is meant to break transoceanic records !
« I have been sailing around the globe for nearly four decades. I know that sports, just like art, enables us to escape from our condition as mortals and pushes back the limits. , It is a great idea to get children ready to face the hardships of the disease. They fight with the same tools we use for a sail around the world. What’s at stake is different and yet, sometimes it only adds up to the same simple idea « survive » and overcome the difficulties.
